The Association of American Medical Colleges today named as its next president and CEO David Skorton, M.D., who currently serves as secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. A board-certified cardiologist, president emeritus of Cornell University, past president of the University of Iowa and a member of the National Academy of Medicine, Skorton will succeed Darrell Kirch, M.D., who has led the association for nearly 13 years, effective July 15.
