Vermont hospital, community college offer pathway to health care career
Brattleboro Memorial Hospital
Brattleboro, Vt.

Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, in partnership with the Community College of Vermont, is helping develop the next generation of health care professionals through a medical assisting apprenticeship program. Medical assistants play a pivotal role in health care, supporting clinicians and providing compassionate, quality care to patients.
Supported by the Vermont Department of Labor’s Apprenticeship Expansion Grant, this six-month program offers hands-on clinical training, classroom and online instruction, and 15 college credits that can be applied toward CCV’s clinical medical assisting certificate or its health science associate degree. With high demand for medical assistants, this program provides a fast-track pathway to a meaningful health care career.
BMH’s scholarship program covers full tuition for up to four participants annually. All participants get real-world experience in the hospital, which serves individuals in rural communities in Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
