Description
Given the growing recognition of the importance of societal factors (e.g., social needs, social determinants and systemic causes) in generating health outcomes, pioneering health organizations are investing upstream to address community conditions, such as a lack of quality affordable housing. With funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Center for Community Investment (CCI) has been working with six leading health care systems to help them identify community priorities and use their assets — land, financial resources, relationships, expertise, etc. — to invest in pipelines of projects that advance those priorities.
This virtual event feature will a discussion of the recently released Investing in Community Health: A Toolkit for Hospitals and a case example highlighting what the organizations have learned about launching successful community investment initiatives. Following the overview of the toolkit and discussion, there will be opportunity to ask questions of the panelists.
PANELISTS:
Robin Hacke, Executive Director and Co-Founder, Center for Community Investment
Ray Prushnok, Associate Vice President, Program Development & Executive Director, Center for Social Impact, UPMC Health Plan
