Employment at the nation's hospitals rose by 0.32% in September to a seasonally adjusted 4,939,400 people, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. That's 15,500 more people than in August and 145,900 more than a year ago. Without the seasonal adjustment, which removes the effect of fluctuations due to seasonal events, hospitals employed 4,939,700 people in September – 10,400 more than in August and 146,400 more than a year ago. The nation's overall unemployment rate was unchanged in September at 5.1%.
