More than 190 nursing schools have pledged to educate their advanced practice registered nursing students on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines for prescribing opioids for chronic pain, the White House announced Friday. In addition, 54 colleges and schools of pharmacy have pledged to educate their students about life-saving overdose interventions, such as naloxone, the administration said. The White House last month announced that more than 60 medical schools will require students to complete some form of prescriber education in line with the CDC guidelines.
