AHA plan outlines strategic priorities through 2020
The AHA today released its 2017-2020 Strategic Plan, which provides an overview of the association’s strategic direction over the next four years based on input from members and the environmental forces impacting the field. Strategic priorities include: advocating for access and coverage; payment and delivery reform; performance improvement; shaping the future workforce; and telling the hospital story. “While our modern world may be rapidly changing, one thing will always stay the same – AHA’s commitment to our vision and key principles,” wrote AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack in releasing the plan. “We seek a society of healthy communities where all individuals can reach their highest potential for health. And to get there, we will continue to work to advance the transformation of health care, ensure access to coverage, preserve adequate resources for health care, protect patient access to care, enhance the quality of care and patient safety, and make health care more affordable.” For more on the key elements of the AHA’s strategic direction and the trends shaping the field, see the AHA Path Forward and 2017 Environmental Scan.
