AHRQ releases ICU mechanical ventilation safety toolkit
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality recently released a toolkit to help hospital intensive care units prevent ventilator-associated pneumonia and other complications for patients on mechanical ventilation. The toolkit uses proven principles and methods from the agency’s Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program, a protocol to prevent infections and create a culture of safety at the unit level. AHA's Health Research & Educational Trust affiliate directed national projects to prevent central-line associated blood stream infections and catheter-associated urinary tract infections through CUSP.
