Virginia hospitals provide $2.9 billion in community support
Virginia hospitals and health systems provided $2.92 billion in community benefit and other types of community support in 2015, according to the latest annual report on community benefit by the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. In addition to their role as providers of essential health services, Virginia hospitals are economic cornerstones in their communities, employing 125,674 people, generating nearly $40 billion in economic activity, and supporting local businesses and vendors, the report notes.
