The AHA’s Association for the Healthcare Environment has partnered with The Ohio State University to launch next spring the first academic certificate program in health care environmental services within a hospitality management program. Participants initially will include Ohio State students in hospitality management and other majors concerned with environmental health and safety, then existing health care and hospitality professionals. The program will be delivered primarily online and include an internship in a hospital or other health care setting. “Students signing on to the program early will be gaining a competitive edge as highly trained graduates who understand how to ensure health and wellness in both the health care environmental services and hospitality fields,” said Patti Costello, executive director of AHE, an AHA personal membership group for environmental services professionals in hospitals and other care settings.
