Surgeon general, assistant secretary nominees advance in Senate
The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee today approved President’s Trump’s nominees to serve as surgeon general and four assistant secretaries at the Department of Health and Human Services. The nominees are Jerome Adams, M.D., to serve as surgeon general; Brett Giroir, M.D., to serve as HHS assistant secretary for health; Robert Kadlec to serve as HHS assistant secretary for preparedness and response; Elinore McCance-Katz, M.D., to serve as HHS assistant secretary for mental health and substance use; and Lance Allen Robertson to serve as HHS assistant secretary for aging.
