Senate holds hearing on health care cost, coverage issues
The Senate Finance Committee today held a hearing on issues impacting health care costs and coverage. Witnesses included former Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Acting Administrator Andy Slavitt and representatives from the Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity, Heritage Foundation, and Bipartisan Policy Center. The hearing covered a wide-range of health care proposals to reduce costs and increase coverage, including steps Congress could take to stabilize the marketplace, transparency for pharmaceutical prices and delivery system reforms.
