The Joint Commission last week announced updates to its emergency management standards effective Nov.15. Issued in response to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services 2016 final rule establishing new emergency preparedness requirements for Medicare and Medicaid-participating health care facilities, the updated standards apply to deemed status surveys for hospital, critical access hospital, ambulatory, home health and hospice settings.
