The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Tuesday posted a list of Medicare-Severity-Diagnosis Related Groups that will be excluded from the clinical episodes of care in its Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Advanced model, a new voluntary bundled payment model that will qualify as an advanced alternative payment model under Medicare’s Quality Payment Program for clinicians. The announcement came just five days before applications to participate in BPCI Advanced are due. AHA last month recommended that CMS provide a complete package of information on the model by March 1, and delay the program’s application deadline from March 12 to April 16. However, CMS has stated it will not extend the deadline.
