VA Endorses Recommendations for Enhanced Veteran Care in New Hampshire
Acting Veterans Affairs Secretary Peter O’Rourke today announced his concurrence with Manchester (NH) VA Medical Center's response to the Special Medical Advisory Group recommendations regarding future health care delivery for veterans in the state. The SMAG recommendations focus, among other areas, on full-service health care delivery for New Hampshire veterans and advancing access to expertise and innovation across the region. AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack serves on the SMAG that issued the recommendations. Steve Ahnen, president of the New Hampshire Hospital Association, served on VA New Hampshire Vision 2025 Task Force, which came up with the recommendations. "Acting VA Secretary O’Rourke’s endorsement of the Manchester VA Medical Center’s Response to the New Hampshire Vision 2025 Task Force findings is a pivotal step forward in making sure that as a state we are meeting the needs of our Veterans of New Hampshire by expanding services and enhancing care,” Ahnen said. “That the Veterans Health Administration will be implementing these findings as a model of best practice for VA medical centers nationwide is a testament to the innovative work being done in New Hampshire and our commitment to ensuring that our veterans get the care they deserve, when and where they need it.”
