The AHA will present its 2019 Board of Trustees Awards to Jeanette Clough, president and CEO of Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Mass., and Bruce Bailey, president and CEO of Tidelands Health in Georgetown, S.C., at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting April 8 in Washington, D.C. The award recognizes individuals or groups who have made substantial and noteworthy contributions to the work of the AHA.

Clough’s AHA leadership and contributions began in 2006, and they continue today. She is the chair of AHA’s Health Forum and has helped guide that organization as a board member since 2012. In addition, she currently serves on the AHA Center for Health Innovation Leadership Council, and is a past member of the AHA Board of Trustees, chair of Regional Policy Board 1 and chair of the Committee on Performance Improvement.

“Jeanette’s keen insights and in-depth knowledge of the challenges facing hospitals and health systems have made her an invaluable leader in our field,” said AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack. “In addition to her many other contributions, her leadership of AHA’s Health Forum has helped advance the health of individuals and communities by providing organizations with the tools and educational resources they need to improve patient care.”

Bailey is a past member of the AHA Board of Trustees and chair of Regional Policy Board 4. He currently is the chair of the AHA Task Force on the 340B Drug Pricing Program and serves on the board of the AHA’s Institute for Diversity and Health Equity.

“Bruce’s deep commitment to improving patient care has been an inspiration to the AHA and the entire health care field,” Pollack said. “Through his leadership in efforts to increase diversity and health equity, the strides he has made in increasing access to high-quality care in his region, and his advocacy on 340B, Bruce has been an invaluable ally for hospitals, health systems and the patients we are proud to serve.”
