The House Ways and Means Committee today launched a health task force to better address the needs of residents in rural and underserved communities. The bipartisan panel — co-chaired by Reps. Danny Davis, D-Ill.; Terri Sewell, D-Ala.; Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio; and Jodey Arrington, R-Texas — will convene experts to discuss the challenges of delivering health care in rural and underserved areas and explore holistic bipartisan policy options that could improve outcomes and care in these communities. The task force will hold its first meeting July 25.

The AHA this week is convening its Future of Rural Health Care Task Force, which will help the association identify future trends and emerging strategies, and develop new care delivery and stable finance models to ensure local access to care in rural settings, as well as key operational considerations for the health care field. The AHA Future of Rural Health Care Task Force is building upon the work of the 2016 Task Force on Ensuring Access in Vulnerable Communities.
