Executive order seeks to expand domestic supply of ‘essential’ drugs, medical equipment and protective gear
President Trump last night signed an executive order intended to increase domestic production of essential medicines, medical equipment and protective gear.
As part of the order, the federal government will be required to develop a list of essential medicines and shift their procurement to U.S.-based companies.
The goal is to decrease supply-chain reliance on foreign sources, while establishing a stronger market for domestic companies to tap into.
