The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission yesterday issued its June report to Congress on refinements to Medicare payment systems and issues affecting the Medicare program, which includes recommendations approved by the commission in April. The report also recommends that Congress eliminate Medicare’s current skilled nursing facility value-based purchasing program and establish a new SNF value incentive program, a proposal discussed by the commission in March.

The Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission yesterday also issued its June report to Congress, which recommends actions to address the impact of high-cost specialty drugs on state Medicaid programs and improve access to mental health services for adults and children in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, among other issues.
