AHA supports House bill to aid child suicide prevention efforts

Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., today introduced the Child Suicide Prevention and Lethal Means Safety Act (H.R. 5035), AHA-supported legislation that would support training programs to help health care workers identify patients at high risk for suicide or self-harm.” Other provisions of the bill would establish grant programs for youth suicide prevention and lethal means safety education and for integrating the topics into health professional curricula. The bill would also create a centralized hub of information for at-risk individuals and their families, health professional schools and providers.
