CMS releases fact sheet on health coverage options for Afghan evacuees
Most Afghan evacuees arriving in the United States are eligible for health insurance through Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, Health Insurance Marketplace or Refugee Medical Assistance, depending on their immigration status and the state in which they reside, according to a fact sheet released today by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The Administration for Children and Families’ Office of Refugee Resettlement provides RMA, which in most cases state Medicaid programs administer, CMS said. The fact sheet reviews eligibility criteria and coverage options available to Afghan refugees and how to connect them with coverage.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week released guidance for clinicians caring for individuals recently evacuated from Afghanistan.
