The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation yesterday announced a redesign of the Global and Professional Direct Contracting Model, which launched last year and was supposed to continue through 2026. Instead, CMMI will terminate the GPDC model on Dec. 31, 2022. The agency then will launch the newly developed Accountable Care Organization Realizing Equity, Access, and Community Health Model on Jan. 1, 2023.  This ACO REACH model will run for four years, through Dec. 31, 2026. CMMI also released a Request for Applications for organizations interested in joining the ACO REACH model that will be open from March 7, 2022 through April 22, 2022. In conjunction with yesterday’s announcement, CMMI also announced its official cancellation of the Geographic Direct Contracting Model.
