HHS updates COVID-19 laboratory reporting requirements
Effective April 4, the Department of Health and Human Services will no longer require COVID-19 testing facilities to report negative results for tests authorized for use under a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment certificate of waiver, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports.
“This includes rapid and antigen testing performed for screening testing at schools, correctional facilities, employee testing programs, long-term care facilities, and rapid testing performed in pharmacies, medical provider offices, and drive-through and pop-up testing sites,” CDC said.
Among other changes, HHS will no longer require testing facilities to report positive or negative antibody test results, but will still require laboratories certified under CLIA to report positive and negative results for nucleic acid amplification tests, CDC said.
