FDA authorizes test to identify and differentiate SARS-CoV-2 strains
The Food and Drug Administration Friday authorized the first COVID-19 test to identify and differentiate certain SARS-CoV-2 lineages in respiratory samples that test positive for the virus. The emergency use authorization (allows certain laboratories certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments to perform the Labcorp next generation sequencing test.
