CMS: Medicare ACOs save $1.6B in 2021
Accountable care organizations in the Medicare Shared Savings Program generated over $1.6 billion in savings to Medicare in 2021, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced last week. Low-revenue ACOs tended to see more net savings, CMS said. About 58% of participating ACOs earned payments for their performance. As of January 2022, Shared Savings Programs include over 525,000 participating clinicians who provide care to more than 11 million people with Medicare.
