SAMHSA awards grants to prevent, treat substance use disorders
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration this week awarded about $48 million to support substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery. The funding includes $18.4 million to expand access to medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder; $7.4 million to develop alternative approaches to opioids for pain management in hospitals and emergency departments; $13.6 million to maintain SUD/mental health treatment for adults after incarceration; $5.4 million for services to support pregnant and post-partum women with SUDs; and $3 million to prevent underage drinking.
