The ransomware attack last year against UnitedHealth Group subsidiary Change Healthcare exposed data of more than 190 million people — up from previous reports of 100 million — according to multiple outlets Jan. 24. The company began notifying customers with stolen patient data in June. Prior to that, the AHA in May urged UHG to formalize breach notifications on behalf of providers or customers following the Feb. 21 incident.
