Recognizing the work that great hospitals do to help to build stronger communities is critically important. A stellar example is Massachusetts General Hospital, the recipient of the 2015 Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in Community Services. The prize is one of the most esteemed community service honors in health care, and we’re honored to jointly sponsor it with the Baxter International Foundation. We announced the award winner last month on the heels of the release of our latest Community Connections resource – “Ideas & Innovations for Hospital Leaders” – our 11th in the series. It focuses on hospital partnerships that promote care coordination, as well as wellness and prevention – issues that command heightened attention as we continue to transform care delivery in this country. Like Massachusetts General, these hospitals know it’s more important than ever to reach out and work with others to find new ways to meet community needs. The positive return in better community connections and health – more than outweighs the effort.

Nominations for the 2016 prize are being accepted through April 1.
