Baxter issues update on IV solution shortages
Baxter Healthcare Corp. Friday updated U.S. hospital customers on its efforts to address a critical shortage of intravenous solutions since Hurricane Maria impacted its manufacturing facilities in Puerto Rico. Millions of units have been shipped to U.S. hospitals from Baxter facilities in other countries and all Baxter facilities on the island are now operating at pre-hurricane levels, the company said. While gaps in supply remain, in part due to high demand from a severe flu season, the company expects to return to more normal supply levels in coming weeks.
