AONE Foundation to honor nurse leader for contributions to nursing research

During the American Organization of Nurse Executives Annual Meeting April 12 in San Diego, the AONE Foundation for Nursing Leadership Research and Education will present its 2019 Nurse Researcher Award to Maria Shirey, a professor and associate dean for clinical and global partnership at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing. Shirey also is editor-in-chief of the Journal for Healthcare Quality. Her research focuses on the complexity of the nurse manager role and its unique contributions to health care, and includes more than 90 peer-reviewed articles and nine book chapters on nursing leadership. She also has studied innovative collaborative practice models in population health.
