Maryland Hospital Association Announces New Chief Executive

The Maryland Hospital Association yesterday named as its new president and CEO Bob Atlas, currently president of EBG Advisors, the consulting affiliate of the health law firm of Epstein Becker Green. Atlas previously served as an advisor on Medicaid reform to North Carolina’s Secretary of Health and Human Services, before that as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Avalere Health, and early in his career as president of The Lewin Group. “Maryland’s hospitals are fortunate to have selected a person with deep policy expertise, vast leadership experience, and familiarity with the state’s unique hospital payment system,” said Mary Pat Seurkamp, chair of the MHA governing board. “Bob has a profound understanding of where health care has been and where it is going, and what hospitals need to do to maintain their mission of care in the midst of tremendous change.” Carmela Coyle, MHA’s previous president and CEO, became president and CEO of the California Hospital Association last fall.
