World Health Organization officials today met in Geneva, Switzerland to discuss the coronavirus – originally found in Wuhan, China – which has killed 17 people. WHO leaders said they needed more information on whether to declare an emergency on the issue, and they are expected to meet again tomorrow. Coronavirus infections stand at more than 500, including the first U.S. case reported yesterday. U.S. officials said the Washington state man remains in isolation in stable condition. Wuhan today temporarily closed outbound transportation from the region in an attempt to slow the virus from spreading. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said all U.S. flights traveling from the Wuhan area will divert to five airports with active passenger screenings, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Chicago, and all international airports will provide virus information to travelers. Thailand, Japan and South Korea have also confirmed human infections. For more information, see CDC’s updated guidance and 2019-nCoV information page.
