The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services today added to Nursing Home Compare 2017 data for five measures from the Medicare Skilled Nursing Facility Quality Reporting Program. The measures are: the percentage of patients with new or worsened pressure ulcers; percentage of patients with an admission and discharge functional assessment and a care plan that addresses function; percentage who experienced a fall that resulted in a major injury during their stay; Medicare spending per beneficiary; and rate of successful return to home or community. CMS decided to postpone posting SNF QRP data for potentially preventable 30-day readmissions to allow for more testing to determine if the measure or method for displaying it should be changed. The Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation (IMPACT) Act of 2014 required public reporting of certain SNF quality data, resulting in the creation of the SNF QRP.
