FDA issues alert on imported medical gloves, authorizes OTC COVID-19 test
Health care providers should not purchase or use certain imported medical gloves from certain companies, which appear to have been reprocessed, cleaned or recycled and sold as new, the Food and Drug Administration announced Friday. The agency encourages reporting any medical gloves that appear soiled or otherwise fraudulent to FDA-COVID-19-Fraudulent-Products@fda.hhs.gov.
In other news, FDA last week authorized the 11th over-the-counter COVID-19 test for emergency use. The diagnostic molecular test requires the use of a compatible smartphone and a downloadable app to provide testing instructions and delivers results in about one hour, the agency said.
