CDC advisory committee unanimously recommends Pfizer’s pediatric COVID-19 vaccine
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s independent Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices today recommended Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine be administered for children ages five through 11. The 14-0 vote paves the way for the first doses to be administered to that age group, pending approval by CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, M.D. Across its deliberations, the committee urged thorough, clear communications with families of potential-but-rare side effects, including myocarditis, with information on symptoms and where to seek medical care.
