Oklahoma hospital recognized as a center of excellence for blood clot treatment

Saint Francis Hospital has earned national recognition as Oklahoma’s first National Blood Clot Alliance Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Center of Excellence. The recognition highlights the hospital’s efforts in preventing, diagnosing and treating dangerous blood clots.
The achievement reflects years of collaboration among multidisciplinary care teams focused on improving outcomes across the spectrum of blood clot care. “Blood clots can become life-threatening quickly, which makes early recognition, coordinated care and prevention critically important,” said Hope Darrow, vice president of the Saint Francis Heart and Vascular Institute. “This recognition reflects the expertise and collaboration of teams across Saint Francis who work every day to deliver evidence-based care, improve outcomes and support patients throughout every stage of treatment and recovery.”
The National Blood Clot Alliance said the designation demonstrates Saint Francis Hospital’s commitment to raising the standard of care for VTE patients. “Saint Francis Hospital exemplifies this commitment, and we are proud to recognize them as Oklahoma’s first NBCA VTE Center of Excellence,” said Erin VanDyke, PA-C, MPAS, vice president of the NBCA Center of Excellence Program.
