The White House Aug. 13 released an executive order directing the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response to develop a list of 26 drugs considered critical for national health and security.
Preparedness Planning
When healthcare supply chain managers prepare for disasters, they need to understand that disaster preparation is a whole-community, coordinated effort. Supply chain managers need to be familiar with the hazard scenarios likely to impact their facility or system as well as their community, develop supply chain-related plans to help respond to these scenarios, and if possible, begin developing an all-hazards cache of medical supplies to ensure a hospital or healthcare system is prepared for these hazard scenarios.
The Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response is seeking public feedback on its Hospital Preparedness Program funding formula. The HPP is the primary source of federal funding for health care preparedness and response.
