Issue Brief: Physician Payment Reform - What is the MACRA?

The Issue: The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA) makes sweeping changes to how Medicare pays for physician services. The legislation repeals the Medicare physician sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula and instead provides predictable payment increases.
