Advanced Illness Management Strategies Webinar
The 2012 AHA Committee on Performance Improvement focused on advanced illness management. Well-developed AIM programs improve quality of life, lower utilization of clinical treatments and hospital admissions, increase patient and family satisfaction and reduce aggregate spending. The first report was released in August 2012, Advanced Illness Management Strategies. The committee at the end of December 2012 released part 2, Advanced Illness Management Strategies: Engaging the Community and a Ready, Willing and Able Workforce.
This webinar explored topics in both reports including the first- and second-curve economic markets, highlighted the essential elements of AIM and provided strategies to navigating life in the gap, the transition period between the two economic markets. Participants included:
- Moderator: James A. Diegel, president and CEO, St. Charles Health System; Chair, AHA Committee on Performance Improvement, and AHA board member
- Laura Mavity, MD, clinical director, Advanced Illness Management Center of Care, Home Health, St. Charles Health System
- Katie Hartley, RN, director case management/utilization review and administrative director, Advanced Illness Management Center of Care, St. Charles Health System
