Cultural competency is critical to reducing health care disparities and improving access to high-quality health care for diverse patients. This webinar, in collaboration with the American Hospital Association's Institute for Diversity in Health Management and Equity of Care, highlights the role of cultural competency in eliminating health care disparities and will feature the 2015 AHA Equity of Care Award finalists, AnMed Health and Rush University Medical Center. This year's finalists have demonstrated a high level of success in becoming cultural competent, which has allowed them to understand their community and ensure individualized care for all patients.
The AHA's Equity of Care Award is presented annually to hospitals or care systems that are noteworthy leaders and examples to the field in the area of equitable care. Honorees demonstrate a high level of success in reducing health care disparities and promote diversity in leadership and staff within their organization.
