An estimated 4.3 million people would gain health coverage in 2016 if the 21 states that have not expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act were to do so, according to an updated analysis released this week by the Kaiser Family Foundation. The report provides estimates of Medicaid enrollment and the number of uninsured with and without Medicaid expansion in the 21 states in 2016. It also provides estimates of federal and state Medicaid spending, and state spending on uncompensated care, with and without expansion in those states for the period 2015 to 2024.
