Hospitals participating in the Inpatient Quality Reporting Program can now generate reports on electronic clinical quality measure reporting for calendar year 2016, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services announced yesterday. The Electronic Health Record Hospital Reports are available through the QualityNet portal to assess outcomes and begin process improvement activities based on CY 2016 eCQM reporting to the Hospital IQR and EHR Incentive programs. CMS temporarily disabled access to the reports early this month to alleviate very slow processing times before the March 13 deadline for submitting eCQM data to the programs. IQR-eligible hospitals may request an extraordinary circumstances exemption related to CY 2016 eCQM reporting through April 1. For more information, see the agency’s recently updated guidance on the exemption.
