GAO announces new MACPAC members, chair
The Government Accountability Office today named five new members to the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission. They are Martha Carter, CEO of FamilyCare Health Centers in Scott Depot, WV; Frederick Cerise, president and CEO of Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas; Kisha Davis, a family physician at the Casey Health Institute in Gaithersburg, MD; Darin Gordon, president and CEO of Gordon & Associates health care consultancy in Nashville; and William Scanlon, a consultant for the West Health Institute in La Jolla, CA. Commissioner Penny Thompson, principal of Penny Thompson Consulting, will serve as MACPAC chair. The commission was created by the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 to review Medicaid and CHIP access and payment policies and advise Congress on issues affecting Medicaid and CHIP.
