AHA, National Urban League leaders highlight alliance to tackle health disparities

In a guest commentary Saturday in Modern Healthcare, AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack and National Urban League President and CEO Marc Morial discuss their organizations’ new alliance to tackle health disparities. “Our groups – a national hospital association and the nation’s largest civil rights organization – have much in common and we are taking concrete steps to increase diversity and inclusion in health care leadership and improve the health of the communities we serve.” The organizations will collaborate on efforts to connect hospital and health system CEOs with local Urban League leaders interested in opportunities to serve on governing boards at hospitals and health systems; help hospitals integrate community health workers into their care delivery and population health strategies; and promote shared policy solutions to persistent challenges that affect the health of urban communities.
