AHA comments on OIG proposed rule on information blocking enforcement
AHA today recommended the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General clarify its proposed rule incorporating new authorities for civil monetary penalties for information blocking by health information developers, exchanges and networks, and not enforce the final rule until after the COVID-19 public health emergency. The OIG rule is related to a final interoperability rule published May 1 by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT. Compliance with the ONC information blocking provisions will be required beginning Nov. 2.
