Starting today, consumers can preview their 2023 health coverage options at the federally facilitated Health Insurance Marketplace. Open enrollment for the 2023 marketplace runs Nov. 1 through Jan. 15, with coverage starting Jan. 1 for consumers who enroll by midnight on Dec. 15.

According to a new CMS report, 92% of enrollees in states using the federally facilitated marketplace will have access to options from three or more insurance companies. New standardized plan options also are available for 2023, which offer the same deductibles and cost-sharing for certain benefits. In addition, the Administration estimates that a new Internal Revenue Service methodology for assessing whether employer-sponsored coverage is affordable for family members will make coverage more affordable for about 1 million Americans. The Inflation Reduction Act also extended for three years the American Rescue Plan Act’s expanded subsidies for coverage purchased through the marketplaces.

According to a report released yesterday by the Department of Health and Human Services, marketplace enrollment increased for all racial and ethnic groups in 2022, with the largest increases for Latino (53%) and Black (49%) enrollees.
