AHA urges CMS to remove impending telehealth provider requirement
AHA Oct. 4 urged the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to permanently remove the requirement that telehealth providers report their home address on enrollment and claims forms, which would pose privacy and safety risks.
“This is a particular concern to us given the increased incidence in violence against health care workers,” AHA wrote. “… At a minimum, CMS must implement a mechanism to automatically mask the home address from any public sites and directories.”
During the COVID-19 public health emergency, CMS allowed practitioners to render telehealth services from their home without reporting their home address for Medicare enrollment and billing, but in July indicated this flexibility will end Dec. 31.
