Below is a list of some of the leadership changes announced recently by hospitals and health systems.

Rachael McKinney was named CEO at Sutter Davis Hospital in Davis, CA. McKinney previously served as the chief operating officer for VEP Healthcare, where she helped grow the hospital-based physician services company and improved their operations significantly across the eight states they serve.

Michael Coyle is now CEO of Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital in Ely, MN. Coyle has been in the health care field for 25 years and was most recently CEO at Coteau des Prairies Healthcare System in Sisseton, SD.

Mary Boyd is now chief integration officer at Saint Joseph Mercy Health System and its affiliate Mercy Health in Canton and North Shores, MI. Boyd, previously executive vice president of Regional Network and System Development for Mercy Health, will oversee strategy and business development, process excellence, accreditation, business health solutions, innovation hub, and medical group and provider services across Michigan.


Kenneth West is now chief operating officer at Regional Medical Center of San Jose (CA). Effective Feb. 5, West will oversee a number of the medical center’s ancillary and support services departments. West was previously vice president, chief operating officer and ethics & compliance officer at Medical Center of Trinity.


Michael Maiberger, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Premier Health will assume a dual role as the president of Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH. Maiberger is presently responsible for day-to-day operations across the health system and was previously at McLeod Health in South Carolina.


Michael Michelson was appointed new independent director at HCA Healthcare, Inc., based in Nashville. HCA’s board of directors will increase from 11 to 12 members and Michelson also will serve as a member of the organization’s audit and compliance committee and finance and investments committee.
