FCC chairman announces $200 million COVID-19 telehealth program
Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai today issued a draft order that would create a program to help eligible health care providers purchase telecommunications, broadband and devices to provide telehealth services to COVID-19 patients and others at higher risk for the virus while reducing practitioners’ exposure. Money for the proposed program came from the recently passed CARES Act.
Pai also issued final rules for a broader and longer-term Connected Care Pilot, an AHA-supported program providing up to $100 million to support telehealth services for mainly low-income Americans and veterans
