Senate holds hearing on policy considerations for AI in health care

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee held a hearing Nov. 8 on policy considerations for artificial intelligence in health care. Testifying at the hearing were Keith Sale, M.D., vice president and chief physician executive of ambulatory services at the University of Kansas Health System; Kenneth Mandl, M.D., director of the computational health informatics program at Boston Children’s Hospital; and representatives from the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and Greater Wisconsin Agency on Aging Resources.

In September, AHA responded to a request for information from HELP Ranking Member Bill Cassidy, M.D, seeking stakeholder feedback on legislative and regulatory frameworks to ensure appropriate oversight of artificial intelligence.
