Agencies to assess U.S. pharmaceutical materials in effort to improve supply chain, domestic manufacturing
The Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response announced Nov. 3 that it will partner with the Bureau of Industry and Security and the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs on an assessment of U.S. pharmaceutical key starting materials in an effort to identify supply chain vulnerabilities and strategies to improve domestic manufacturing capabilities. The assessment would examine supply chain elements of U.S. pharmaceutical manufacturing efforts, including domestic production capacity and the country’s reliance on foreign or single sources of critical materials.
